PATE'S GRAMMAR SCHOOL
Duke of Edinburgh's Award
Walking and Canoe Expeditions are currently offered at Pate’s, however if there is enough interest we can assist with Mountain Biking and Horse Riding expeditions.
Bronze level participants will complete their award via walking only.
Group sizes
DofE rules state that walking / horse riding groups must have a minimum of 4 people with a maximum of 7, but we encourage you plan for a minimum size of 6 to take account of possible injuries or other reasons why a member may need to drop out later at short notice.
Canoeing and cycling groups must have a minimum of 4 people, and can have a maximum of 8 people per group due to the nature of the transport. Again we encourage you to plan for a minimum of 6.
Planning
There is a minimum level of training in each award that participants must undertake, however you must have your supervisor's approval before you are able to book the qualifying expedition - this may mean undertaking more practice expeditions than the minimum.
Please book your training weekends and expeditions early to avoid disappointment!
The notification process for qualifying expeditions takes a minimum of 8 weeks. Add this to the Core Skills weekend, Practice expeditions and planning time, and your team has a lot of work to do!
Remember:
Take note of the 20 conditions that are required for completing your assessed expedition, you will find these via the button to the right.
